The governing Body includes Foundation Governors from each of the parishes served by St. Mary's, together with Staff Governors and a parent Governor.

The Governors work closely with the senior staff to ensure the best possible environment is provided for our children. We are actively involved in maintaining the school buildings, monitoring the school budget, appointing new staff, and overseeing the curriculum.

Constitution of the Governing Body

The officers are elected annually from within the Governing Body. Foundation Governors, Parent Governors, Teacher Governors and LEA Governors are elected to serve for a four year period. They may however resign; in which case new appointments will be made to fill the vacancies.

School Funding

As a Voluntary Aided School the Governing Body is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the exterior fabric of the school building. The Governors are also responsible for maintaining and replacing some of the interior fixtures and fittings, in conjunction with the Local Authority.

To fund these expenditures the Governing Body needs to raise money on a regular basis.

The St Mary's 90/10 Club operates to together with a ‘100 Club’ to facilitate regular income into the Governors' Fund.
