Clubs
Clubs will run on a Thursday for 2010/11.
Clubs are run by our teachers and are open to all members of Year 4. Each term the children receive a letter about the clubs on offer and make up to three choices.
A variety of different clubs are offered each term and include things like art and craft, golf, table tennis, judo, football, cookery, computer, netball, drama, dance, gardening, music and eco-warriors. The clubs are always very popular with the children and enjoyed by all.

Football Club

Ready to start the match.
In football club, run by All Ball Football, we do lots of different activities.
Each session starts with a fun warm-up and ends with an actual match. In between we normally focus on a specific aspect of the game which we then try to perfect in the match. This helps to give us a better understanding of the game as well as helping us to improve our individual ability.
Choir

At the Young Voices concert at the NEC.
Miss Colclough is in charge of our school choir and we take part in lots of singing events with other schools. We have been to the NIA, NEC, Chateau Impney, Music festivals and lots more.
We always sing at our school fayres, sing around Droitwich during the Christmas period, we sung on bonfire night last year and we even took part in an official ceremony in Droitwich town centre last year, where they unveiled a new statue!
We really enjoy our singing and sometimes we just can’t stop.
Cookery Club
We work in a group of six or eight and together prepare and create a range of savoury and sweet foods. The children learn about food hygiene and safety in the kitchen and experience different ways of cooking, eg. toasting under the grill, melting or simmering on the hob and baking in the oven.
We also introduce then to a range of preparations such as cutting, spreading, chopping, mixing, 'rubbing in' and beating/creaming.
Our favourite recipe is French Bread Pizza. The children choose their own topping and arrange this creatively. The results are always mouth watering! Our cheese scones are becoming legendary. We follow a simple recipe and have outstanding success every time!
We introduce the children to thinking about how we can choose the 'healthy option'. This is reflected in the recipes we use, one being pasta with tuna and sweetcorn. We have recently introduced an Italian tomato sauce which is very popular.
The best thing about this club is that we can eat what we make!
ICT Club

At the computers.
In ICT club, we can explore the internet under supervision, play games, and create pictures using a graphics programme.
We can practise word processing and typing skills. We like to make smart board interactive pages and presentations.
It is also a chance for us to do some research based on our topic work in class.
ICT Club is run on a Wednesday after school by Mrs Hermiston and Miss Harwood.
Reception Library
Reception children are invited to come to the school library on Wednesday afternoons between 3.00pm and 3.30pm.
It is an opportunity for parents/carers and children to share and choose a book to take home for the week.
The children learn to recognise their name on their library card and are able to learn how to use the scanner. Children find this quite exciting!
Forest School at St Peter's
At St Peter's the children in Reception and Year 2 have the opportunity to attend Forest School for one two hour session for a period of seven weeks. Each session is led and supervised by a qualified Forest School Leader.
Forest school is an excellent way to develop the children's self esteem, confidence, independence and their understanding and respect for their outside environment. Forest School is an opportunity for the children to experience nature and the outdoor environment in a safe, secure and hands on way. For those children who learn better practically they have greater level of success than in a traditional classroom.
Children are given the opportunity to use a wide range of resources both natural and man-made. Although Forest School leaders will plan specific activities, the children are encouraged to choose how they wish to use them within their Forest School session so that they can lead their own learning.
Activities which the children complete during a Forest School session, may include map making, mini beast hunting, mud painting, collecting and sorting and den building.
