Event - Year 4 Tudor Day
5 February 2010
As part of their Tudor Topic, Year 4 fully immersed themselves into the Tudor period. Children came to school dressed in Tudor attire with a lunch of chicken wings and bread ready to eat in the great hall.
The children took part in a variety of activities. These included:
- Tudor dancing - children spent time during their PE lessons to learn and choreograph their Tudor dance in preparation for the day. Here Aran and Isabella show everyone how it’s done.
- Quill writing - children looked at Tudor writing and used a quill and ink to write their own name cards. It was much trickier than they first thought!
- Tudor cooking - children made biscuits using an original Tudor menu. The children made enough to share with everyone during the great feast.
- Sketching - drawing inspiration from Tudor buildings and galleons, the children sketched some beautiful artwork.
- Entertainment - children took part in some traditional Tudor games.
- Pomander making - Tudors were not the most fragrant of people. Children made Pomanders using oranges and cloves to create a zesty fragrance!
Children showcased their fantastic outfits and impressive homework. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.
