Our Faith

St Peter De Witton Church
St Peter's Church is one of four churches in the town belonging to the parish of Droitwich Spa.
It is a traditional building that has had many changes over the hundreds of years it has been a place of worship. It is believed that there has been a church on or near this site since Saxon times.
The church has a weekly service at 9.30am alternating with a Eucharistic service and Service of the Word, during which children, aged ten and under, go out to the vestry for Sunday school.
The children at St Peter's School attend regular services in the Church led by one of the team ministers. The church is also used to help deliver the RE curriculum, when visiting a church and looking at religious artefacts is part of the lesson.
To find out how you and your child(ren) can get involved in church life, read the document below:
Collective Workship and Assemblies

The children at St Peter’s school have an act of worship or assembly every day. These take place in the hall, the class room, the church, or even in the playground!
We also welcome a wide variety of visitors to speak at these occasions.
The themes for our worship focus on the values we need to live good Christian lives and link with the SEAL themes for each term.
| Term | SEAL | Value for Life/Faith |
|---|---|---|
| Autumn A | New Beginnings | Creation and Creativity |
| Autumn B | Getting on and Falling Out | Peace and Advent |
| Spring A | Going for Goals | Perseverance |
| Spring B | Good to be Me | Respect and Reverence. Lent and Easter |
| Summer A | Relationships | Trust |
| Summer B | Change | Hope/Friendship |
Spirituality and Reflection
Children at St Peter’s are encouraged to develop their spirituality through reflection of their Collective worship, world events and things that are happening in their lives.
Such reflection can take place in different areas around the school, when a child can have quiet time with a friend or an adult. In these areas there are prayers, handling crosses and bibles and thought provoking activities that help the children focus their thoughts.

Saint Peter

Saint Peter
Simon was a fisherman, working with his brother Andrew. When Jesus started on his ministry he was looking for people who would help and support him. He chose Simon and renamed him Peter, which means 'rock', as he realised that Peter would become a foundation of the early Christian church.
Peter was very involved throughout Jesus' ministry and was at his side at the Last Supper. When Jesus was arrested Peter cut off the right ear of a slave of the high priest and much to his shame, Peter then denied Christ three times before the cock crowed, just as the Lord predicted.

After the Resurrection, Peter was the first disciple to whom Jesus appeared.
Before Jesus ascended into heaven he gave to Peter the famous command to "Feed my lambs... Tend my sheep... Feed my sheep".
In the time immediately after the Ascension, Peter stood as the unquestionable head of the Apostles. He spent the rest of his life spreading the Good News and encouraging converts to Christianity.
Peter was crucified on the Vatican Hill, upside down on a cross, because he declared himself unworthy to die in the same manner as the Lord.
Saint Peter's Symbols are Crossed keys, which represent the keys to heaven and the inverted cross.
