School Governor Profile
Fiona Rouse - Staff Governor

My connection with St Peter's started 15 years ago when my oldest son entered Reception, followed by his two brothers. I spent time in school as a parent helper and member of the Parents' Association, and then was invited to join the staff first as a special needs support assistant and then in my current roles of teaching assistant and lunch-time supervisor.
When the vacancy for a staff governor arose in September 2003, I decided that this would offer me an opportunity to start giving something back to the school that has offered my family so much. In addition, working as a governor forms a valuable part of my professional development, giving me a clearer understanding of all aspects of school life.
I am currently a member of the Premises Committee, and am Link Governor for Health & Safety and Eco-Schools. These are areas that I feel underpin the work our school does so well to promote and protect the well-being of every member of our community.
I also act as mentor to new governors, helping them to 'find their feet' as they begin their terms of office.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the theatre and cinema, and am lost without a good book. Weather permitting, I spend a lot of time (and probably too much money!) in the garden.
As a family we enjoy walking and visiting historic sites, and I have had to learn to love rugby, but doubt I shall ever get equal pleasure from washing the resulting dirty kit.
