School Governor Profile
Simon Richards - Parent Governor

I was lucky enough to be voted in as a Parent Governor in October 2008. As such, I am new to the role and really looking forward to being able to play an important, influential role in the continued quality running of our school.
My son is a pupil at St Peter's. He enjoyed an excellent start to his education, settling very well into the school. I was very impressed with the school immediately and hoped that I may get an opportunity to give something back in a role as Governor. My wife is a Primary School Teacher within the authority. She did her training at St Peter's and has a real and lasting affection for the school. She was a significant part of our applying to the school for our son. Given her role, she provides me with a professional insight into teaching, its theories and structures. She is also able to give me a view of our school itself, from a Teacher's point of view.
I will be as active as I am able to in my role as a Governor. The school is building on success, and should quite rightly celebrate that. Our recent Ofsted results were very positive, and a good reflection of the quality of our staff. I will do all I can in my role to support the Head Teacher and the staff to continue to develop our young people, and help them to fulfil their potential.
In my spare time I play Basketball in a team in the West Midlands Premier League. I greatly enjoy watching Rugby Union and, although I don't sound like it, am a very proud Welshman! I have started coaching mini rugby, and this season am the under 6's coach at Droitwich Rugby Club. This is a pastime that I am enjoying immensely and have already gained a lot from personally. I have a good rapport with children of all ages and hope this will help when I am in school, talking to our youngsters.
