School Governor Profile

Jill Wheeler - Church Governor

Having worked in a variety of high schools in the West Midlands, I retired from teaching in 2002. As a former Head of Religious Education, and currently an Examiner for OCR, I find my role as a Foundation Governor of St Peter's School gives me a new perspective on education.

I have found getting to grips with a different age group and curriculum extremely interesting, and hopefully my education background can be put to good effect for the benefit of our children and teachers.

Whenever I visit St Peter's I am impressed by the 'buzz' of enthusiastic and eager children that greets me, and it is lovely to be invited to share in special events that celebrate the achievements of our children and their hard-working teachers.

As a Governor, I am particularly interested in helping to develop St Peter's Christian ethos, and I chair the recently formed Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural Development Committee (SMSCD). I am also a member of the Staffing and Curriculum Committees.

My other interests include membership of Droitwich P.C.C. and Deanery Synod. I am also Chair of the Doitwich Group of 'Save the Children', the local parish co-ordinator for 'Operation Christmas Child', and a committee member of 'Neighbourhood Watch'.

In my spare time, I assist my daughter, a clinical psychologist, in the running of her teaching business which provides specialist courses for medical students and junior doctors.
