Choir Visit Local Care Homes

Choir members on a frosty day.

The choir have been very busy for the last couple of weeks and we finished off our busy time by singing Christmas songs at the local care homes in December 2010.

We were very glad to arrive at the care homes because it was an extremely beautiful but very chilly walk!

When Reception went into our hall one day in December 2010 we were met by a very special Santa lady! She taught us to dance and sing to a Christmas song.

Bishop Joel's Visit

Mrs O'Keeffe-Pullan and Bishop Joel

On Friday Bishop Joel came to visit us all the way from Uganda! He brought some very special letters with him from some of the children in Arua and we gave him some very special letters to take back. He came round to our classrooms to find out what we have been learning about and we thoroughly enjoyed his visit.

We hope he comes back again soon!

World Book Day.

This year we had a bit of a different theme for our World Book Day – we all decided to dress up in our pyjamas and bring our favourite bedtime stories to school!

Miss Pinson’s class chose to do their assembly in the style of the Oscars but for books instead!

Father Christmas with his lovely little helper Mrs Baldwin.

A wonderful evening was had by all.

The PTA raised over £2000 to support the school. Parents contributed a great deal for stalls and the luxury hampers that were raffle prizes. We were even visited by Santa's real reindeer!

Well done to the PTA for such an enjoyable and successful event.

Swimming Gala

St Peter's Year 4 Swimming Team.

During November a small group of year four pupils were fortunate enough to attend the Droitwich Spa Schools Pyramid Swimming Gala.

The children competed against local schools. Activities such as relay racing in pairs with a woggle or with a ball were all part of the fun.

The children had a really fantastic time and were a credit to the school.

Harvest Festival

Showing some of the Harvest contributions.

All the children went down to church to celebrate the Harvest Festival this year.

We all brought in a food contribution which will be given to help all the people at 'The Magg's Day Centre.'

We also brought in a money contribution to help with our second chosen charity 'FARM-Africa,' to give poverty the boot.

Mrs Crawford and Year 2 children showing off their hair!

As one of our named charities we have chosen to help Noah's Ark Trust this term by wearing a hat, hoodie or even coming into school with a very different hair do.

All children in school took part and enjoyed an assembly lead by Noah's Ark and a parade of our trendy styles.

Switch It Off Week

St Peter's Eco School Council

The Switch It Off Week has been organised and run by the school's Eco council - a group of children from Years 1 to 4 who work with Mrs O'Keeffe-Pullan and the other staff and children to make the school as Eco friendly as possible. The jobs of the Eco Council include raising money to buy resources to keep our school Eco friendly, maintaining the school grounds to make our school look its best and raising awareness between staff and children in ways to save energy and water in our school.

During Switch It Off week, the Eco Council have been working hard to monitor the staff and children at school to make sure that we can save as much energy as possible. We hope that by saving as much energy as possible, we can show how much money we could save over a year on the school's electricity bills. We also invited parents to join in with us at home and see how much energy they could save around their house during the week by switching off.

Summer Fayre Raises £2,200

Mrs O'Keeffe-Pullan and Miss Simons 'in the stocks'.

St Peter's PTA held our annual Summer Fayre - themed on 'The Wild West'. All stall holders dressed up in Wild West gear and there were related stalls such as Panning for Gold. The photograph shows Mrs O'Keeffe-Pullan and Miss Simons in the stocks where the children took the opportunity to give them a complete soaking! After many weeks of planning the Fayre was voted a sucess - we raised £2,200, despite the poor weather which meant some stalls had to be inside. We had many helpers both to set up the stalls and clear up afterwards and the PTA would like to thank everyone who gave their time and donated items for the many stalls. In addition we would like to thank the wider local community for their kind donations of meat for the barbecue, vouchers and raffle prizes which all went towards making this event a great sucess.

Early Years Outdoor Development

Having been awarded grants from e-on and The Duckworth Worcestershire trust, the Reception staff have embarked upon the huge task of developing the Reception Outdoor area. At St Peter's we are fortunate to have a super sized Reception space to take our learning outside on a daily basis. The development aims to improve this space and work with the natural environment eg. the trees and the slopes. We are aiming to use as many natural materials and recycled reclaimed resources as is possible. The first phase of the development has enabled us to have some wooden seating/storage built, whilst the children are currently working on some season mosaics using coloured garden stones to bring some natural bright colours into the area. The next step is to enclose our space with a picket fence in line with the fencing already in the playground and develop a sensory garden full of colour, smells and textures.

Outdoor Development   Outdoor Development

Watch this space as the area begins to take shape. We will keep you informed on the progress of the development, and may as we continue request parental involvement with time and resources.
