Our Work - Year 3

On this page you can enjoy some of the work done by our children in Year 3.

In our Egyptian topic we made Egyptian amulets from clay. Then we added jewels and painted them gold.

We wrapped each other up as mummies following the instructions carefully. It was great fun but they are not as neat as we had hoped. It was such fun even our parents wanted a go!

Our Shiny Diamond's Garden Centre

First we planted lots of tiny seeds in big black pots. Then we made a little trip to a garden centre - it gave us information about plants.
Next we decided to make a fabulous garden centre in our classroom that everyone could enjoy. While we were thinking of things to put in our garden centre we needed some way for people to come to our garden centre so we made lots of colourful posters to put around school and letters to send home to parents.
After we made things to put in our garden centre such as candle pots, stone weights with pretty pictures, and yummy cakes and biscuits.
After that we made lots of sweet looking bird seed in yellow packaging. So because we had plants and all sorts to sell we had to choose people to sell all of these things. We needed waiters and waitresses. Now we had all of that sorted the classroom looked lovely. All we had to do now was to wait for customers.
Suddenly there were lots of people, they all looked like they all enjoyed it!
We made thirty eight pounds and eighty one pence!
Last of all we had to decide what to do with the money and together as a class we decided that the money should go to China and Burma.

As part of our Garden Centre project, Garnet Class designed our own moving plants using a pneumatic system.

In science as part of our Garden Centre project we looked closely at the inside of a flower. We dissected them and found out the names of the different parts and then made our own labelled diagrams. We also found out what the jobs of the internal parts are.

Sapphire Class had great fun on our Egyptian Day. We all dressed up in Egyptian costumes and showcased work that we had done at home. Thank you to all the people at home who helped put these wonderful costumes together. We had a great time.

We planned and designed our own sandwiches in our DT topic. All the sandwiches had to have elements of a balanced diet. After lots of practice with cutting and peeling, we enjoyed our creations.

We used drama to act out the mummification process when learning about the Egyptians. We had a competition to see who could wrap the best mummy! This team won!

All About Leaves, by Jordan

We came to school dressed as Romans for the day and we completed lots of activities.
