Our Work - Year 4
On this page you can enjoy some of the work done by our children in Year 4.
As part of our work on 3D shape, the children had to use the correct mathematical vocabulary to work out what shape they were. Each partner could only answer yes or no to them, so their questions had to be precise.
Turquoise class performing a number of musical pieces on the violin and cellos.
Topaz class played the Clarinets beautifully.
Amber class played the Cornets and Baritones well, they needed a lot of puff! As part of the wider opportunities programme, each child in year four will learn to play three different musical instruments throughout the year – brass, wind and string. At the end of each term the children celebrate with a musical performance.
All of Year 4 went to Droitwich canal to have a go at Bell Boating. Team work was the order of the day. We all had a fantastic time, even if we did get rather wet! In April 2009 we had a Tudor day in school. We all had a great day and learnt some new skills such as writing with a quill pen, making a Pomander (Tudor style air freshener), and cooking biscuits. We shared our Tudor dances with each other. The school hall was changed into a Great Hall and Tudor banquet was enjoyed by all. Singing and fashion shows followed.

Writing with a quill is not easy!
In 2008 Year 4 children made models of The Easter Garden when learning all about Holy Week in RE.

Romeo and Juliet.
Fractions is fun! Children worked in the pancake shop to produce the teachers pancake orders. From the small appetite of ¼ to the medium appetite of a ½ to those very greedy teachers who wanted ¾.
We have been learning about solids and liquids. We were challenged to find ways of separating mixtures, such as gravel and water or flour and paperclips, using a range of equipment. Knowing about the properties of the materials helped us to decide on the best things to use; we found we could pick out the paperclips with a magnet and use a sieve to filter out the stones.
During our RE lessons Year Four have been developing their understanding of the Easter story. The children all created an Easter Garden.
